Hot Air Balloon Flight Record - 14-16Jul2017

Not a very good forecast for the beginning of the weekend. Friday was a bit breezy but looked to drop before sunset. Direction (W up the ridge) was bad so flying was canceled. Showers canceled tether and glow.

Saturday AM was thick low overcast/fog. Flying was canceled when it didn't clear by 8AM.

Saturday PM looked good but as I was going hot, gusts picked up. Bill and Frank got off but I deflated to wait it out. Paul was cold inflating when the gusts calmed. I was just going to restart when the gusts picked up again. We have cells forming between Greenfield and Glens Falls, creating outflows. Left the balloon out and eventually inflated for the balloon glow.

Sunday AM was clear and calm. Due to the soft field we inflated in the back parking lots. I got the only grass island in the lot. About 3rd off the ground we headed W up the ridge a way before climbing to turn NNE across the school then ENE to N of the launch field. Dropped low to turn WSW, back into the college and across the main stage. Climbed higher this time to turn SE toward the college entrance. Dropped just past I-91 and turned back toward the college. Made it just past Colrain when the direction died. We stopped at the corner driveway for a few minutes till the breeze picked up again. Hopped over the tree line to drop on the college driveway for deflation.
