The forecast was bad again this year, with fog in the morning and a chance of showers to thunderstorms Saturday night into Sunday Morning. Reality, as usual, is not the same as a forecast or even local reports. Friday night we drove to Plainville with breezy conditions. Saturday morning was low overcast and a bit breezy. Frank was the only balloon to attempt a short flight.

Saturday evening was quite breezy and about 3-4 balloons setup for a few minutes of blowing around before dropping again. No one intended to launch with the current conditions.

Sunday morning was forecast with low wind, but showers or fog. In the morning, most area reporting points had worse visibility that Saturday morning. As we drove to the field, we noticed the local conditions were clear!

Everyone that came out that morning set up. A couple of balloons tethered on the field, but the rest of us flew. Some went higher to pickup the faster breeze to cross the east ridge and get to 91. I stayed low with several other balloons and after the initial slow east drift, turned SSW to parallel I-84 and head back toward Rt-10.

Set down in a school parking lot for easy crew recovery.
