Hot Air Balloon Flight Record - 21May2005

We have been trying to fly every weekend since the last flight, and every weekend we get wind and rain.

Last weekend, hind sight shows Saturday morning was probably good, but earlier when you would be making the decision, weather radar showed sprinkles in the area so we probably would have canceled.

This Saturday the forecast constantly changed from bad to good to bad again. Since there was a chance, we decided to make the final call in the morning. Rain was holding off south and east until the afternoon, and the winds were light so we headed out.

We took off and headed south east. As we approached Stow center and climbed, we turned further south. The higher level winds were not as light as forecast. We peaked at 22.4 MPH during the flight.

Still moving pretty good as we passed Intel (DEC Alpha) in Hudson, and approached the Assabet School. Made a steep approach which turned further south and headed to the back side of the school. Had to level out twice so we could step down over the trees and make the final descent into a small playing field below the road and protected from the upper winds.
